The Child In Me

Source: Flickr.com

Every time I see a drop of rain on a leaf,
With rainbow tiptoeing around me like a thief,
The child in me rejoices!

Sound of birds on the morn makes me wonder,
If avarice and indulgence is pulling me under,
The child in me whimpers!

Dripping ice-cream down the carefree cone,
Buttery, chocolatey, cheery scone,
The child in me yearns!

Buried under the mountains of restraints,
My embittered heart complaints,
The child in me laments!

  2. There are so many things i love about this poetry.. for one, I can't write short poems.. I've a serious disorder writing short stuff.. I need a lot of words.. and the way it moves from the reminiscence of the old memories to the final realization that we have to grow up is something that stuck the right chords.. you're an EXCELLENT POETESS.

  7. Lovely poem. We all have an inner child within us, and the simplest of things can sometimes bring it out.

  10. So true. We get enough reason everyday for the child in us to awaken, but alas, we pat it hard and make it sleep back.
