Why is it that the one thing you want,
The one thing you desire with all your might,
The one thing that defines your soul,
Never comes to you!
Why is it that you have to go alone,
Bare of loving arms to shelter you,
Yearning for warmth and signs of hope
Only to find disillusionment and despair!
Why is it that every time you try to stand up,
Shoring up your defenses and strength,
You are mortally wounded and left to die,
Coming back to full circle of hopelessness!
Why is it so difficult for a single soul to love you,
For what you are and not for what they see,
To make you believe in fairies and angels,
Instead of devils and dragons!
Why, why, why,
Is this what life is for,
To yearn, to dream, to wish,
Only to find heartache and broken parts of you!
The one thing you desire with all your might,
The one thing that defines your soul,
Never comes to you!
Why is it that you have to go alone,
Bare of loving arms to shelter you,
Yearning for warmth and signs of hope
Only to find disillusionment and despair!
Why is it that every time you try to stand up,
Shoring up your defenses and strength,
You are mortally wounded and left to die,
Coming back to full circle of hopelessness!
Why is it so difficult for a single soul to love you,
For what you are and not for what they see,
To make you believe in fairies and angels,
Instead of devils and dragons!
Why, why, why,
Is this what life is for,
To yearn, to dream, to wish,
Only to find heartache and broken parts of you!
Melancholic thought...nicely expressed..
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done Pankti! Apparently, this is the harsh reality of life :(
ReplyDeleteWe don't always get that one thing without which we can't imagine to exist. Nevertheless, against all the odds - we survive. we live.
Nobody knows the answer, all we say is "WHY"!
Btw, the last line is simply amazing :)
Thanks BK
DeleteAwwww.... I too have something similar a doubt going on my mind...I dunno.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteWhy o Why? Ain't that the million dollar question?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! :)
Delete" To make you believe in fairies and angels"- lol... I know... I have a friend who wants to be pampered now and then. :-P
ReplyDeleteNice... So poetry is not bad right?
Never said it's bad....just not my cup of tea :)
DeleteWell written Pankti! and your questions I guess form the very essence of life, dont you think?
ReplyDeleteSeeta, sometimes I think they do but when nobody express these things, I start thinking I'm sailing alone in the boat!

ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI can so much relate to this poem! You've expressed your feelings beautifully in form of poem!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, Pankti. These are the same questions I ask myself a lot of times :) I am not as articulate of course!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ritu! You are articulate, but it's just that you prefer to speak on different topic :)
Deletesome times those things do come, have faith
ReplyDeleteYes, I do try :)
DeleteBecause the one thing that controls everything wants you to work hard for anything you want in your life. And mind you, hard work still doesn't guarantee that you will get it. So "Karma kar phal ki icha mat kar". Beautifully expressed :)
ReplyDeleteSfurti, but is it that easy? :)
DeleteMay be its God's way of pushing ur limits!
ReplyDeletefelt the same at many junctures :( :)
Grt poem
Yeah...but I wish God didn't push me! I'm lazy ;)
DeleteWell written..
ReplyDeleteTo find your answers read Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, it will give you all your answers i believe.
Yes, I've read it. It's all about Karma and I believe that. It's just that it's difficult to digest the karma you are reaping when you don't remember your past actions to deserve it.
DeleteC'est la vie! (as they say in French).
ReplyDeletePoignant short poem.
Thanks Shaifali :)
